Central Electoral Commission (CEC) registered on Tuesday three new electoral opponents, that will be under 11, 12 and 13 numbers in the ballots for the parliamentary elections from 6 March. These are independent candidates Maia Laguta and Stefan Matei, and Christian Democratic Peasant’s Party of Moldova (PTCDM).

The independent candidates registered on Tuesday by CEC, Maia Laguta and Stefan Matei are from Chisinau, the first one being the president of Privatized Dwelling Owners' Association, and the second candidate is president of “Fiii” (Sons) Foundation. They will be under 11 and 12 numbers on ballots.

PTCDM that submitted to CEC a list of 95 candidates for the position of MP was registered by CEC under 13 number, and party president Nicolae Andronic stated that this list was formed on the basis of totally new principles if compared to the last elections. He underlined that well-known personalities respected by the native community, who know the local problems and “do not just want to hide behind the immunity of MP” were enlisted this time. He also said that average age of the PTCDM candidates is of 39.2, and 83 men and 12 women are written down on their list.

CEC has also registered the electoral emblem of PTCDM that represents the graphic image of a Moldovan peasant in a fur cap holding a bread in his hands.

It should be mentioned that according to the provisions of the Electoral Code, the deadline of registering electoral opponents for the parliamentary elections from 6 March 2005 is on Thursday, 3 February currently.
