The dry white Chardonnay made by DK-Intertrade and white sparkling Cricova wine made by the same-name company (both in Moldova) have won the chief awards of the 14th International Wine Contest held yesterday in the framework of the ongoing ExpoVin-Moldova'2005 exhibition.
At the last night's Wine Ball held at the National Palace, the Grand Prizes were handed in to the winners. On the whole, 97 varieties of wines and brandies received various awards - one-third of those which took part in the Contest.
Four Big Gold Medals were given to Traminer made by Acorex Wine Holding, white dry Shampanskoye made by Lion Gri, brandies President (40 years) and Codru (20 years) both made by Barza Alba [White Stork] company of Balti town.
All in all, gold medals were given to 49 wines and brandies, silver to 24, and the rest received bronze medals. In the denomination of "The Best Wine by Version of the Specialized Mass Media", the main prize was won by the dessert Heress [Sherry] made by Ialoveni Winery. The prize was handed in to the winner by the Editor-in-Chief of "The Wine Map" newspaper of Moscow, Mr. Ivan Serdiuk.
