OSCE Permanent Council Examined the Situation in the Security Zone

OSCE Permanent Council examined on Thursday the situation in the Security Zone on the Nistru. Moldovan delegation presented a detailed information regarding the actions of Tiraspol authorities and the incident in Vasilievca village.

At the OSCE PC, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova informed the audience about the provocations organized by the Transdniestrian regime in the Security Zone and underlined that villages from the Eastern districts of our country within Chisinau jurisdiction are subjected to intimidation actions, aiming at ensuring total control of respective localities by separatist authorities. In this context it was reminded about the incident that took place in Vasilievca on 11 March, currently when the Transdniestrian paramilitary forces undertook illegal actions of stealing and destroying the endowment for the telephone connection installed by Moldtelecom in this locality. More than that, they have subjected to intimidation the police officers and local population, who opposed resistance to their vandalism actions.

According to a press release of the Foreign Ministry, PC was informed that General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova qualified the attack against civil population, threatenings and intentional Violence as terror attack.

Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE PC has shared the worry expressed by the Moldovan delegation and noticed that the situation in the Eastern districts of the Republic of Moldova is closely watched by the Presidency, in this context being mentioned also the recent visit to our country of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Slovenian Foreign Minster, Dimitrij Rupel.//
