“Promo-Lex” Is Going to Sue the Moldovan State

July 7 2005

Print version

Copanca village inhabitants have cleared Cremenciug-Chitcani road, being forced by the separatist authorities of Tiraspol who annulled the passenger transportation on Tiraspol-Copanca route and threatened to introduce some additional fees for visiting the localities under the control of the separatist regime established on the left bank of Dniester, - reports Info-Prim.

Ion Manole, the president of “promo-lex” Jurists’ Association, who is examining this case, told Info-Prim that in the absence of other routes for ensuring the connection between Causeni and Chisinau, the inhabitants of these localities are actually isolated from the district center and the capital of Moldova. There is only one bus to Causeni and one mini-bus to Chisinau, while Tiraspol is capable to offer transportation means on regular basis.

The fact that Moldovan authorities did not react to Tiraspol’s actions proves that Chisinau does not have a clear and consistent strategy for the promotion and defense of rights, freedoms and interests of the region’s citizens, said the cited source.

According to “Promo-Lex”, the state authorities should have directly participated in solving of this situation, as the population of the region and the civil society may lose its confidence in the Chisinau national authorities and bodies. This organization believes that the concerned case may be examined by the European Court of Human Rights.

The experts of “Promo-Lex” Association will oversee the new developments in this case, being ready to offer legal assistance to the persons applying for help, - notes Info-Prim.
