Andrei Ivantoc, a Tiraspol political prisoner, has announced a time-unlimited hunger strike in protest against the inhuman, brutal treatment of him by the prison administration.
Mrs. Eudochia Ivantoc told Infotag her husband is refusing to accept food parcels even from her. She strongly doubts that the recent judgment by the European Court of Human Rights and the March 1 third Interim Resolution issued by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe concerning the execution of that judgment, will ever be fulfilled by the Tiraspol regime.
The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already expressed concern about the decision by Ivantoc to go on hunger strike. The Ministry said the international community should undertake efforts to ensure the observance of elementary human rights of Tiraspol's political prisoners and of the ECHR decisions.
Andrei Ivantoc and Tudor Petrov-Popa have been serving sentences in the Tiraspol prison since 1992.
