37.7 Thousand Children Were Born in Moldova in 2005 that Is by 1.5% Less than in 2004

According to the data of the National Statistic Bureau, the birth rate constituted 10.5 babies per 1000 people. In rural regions this index constituted 11.5%, in the urban districts – 9,1%.

According to NSB, the birth rate of natural children. Thus, in 2005 each fourth child was not born in a family, about 66.5% – in the rural localities.

The trend for decreasing the number of women, giving birth to a child at the age under 20 – in 2005 their number constituted 13.4%.

The average age of the mothers giving birth to a child for the first time is 22.4 years: in rural regions – 21.7 year, in the urban districts – 23.6.
