The just-concluded Balkan Mathematics Olympiad in Chisinau confirmed a high training level of Moldovan mathematicians who won four silver and five bronze medals. Two representatives from Romania, Serbia and Monte Negro and one each from Turkey and Bulgaria won the highest awards as well.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee Valeriu Baltag, school children aged up to 15.5 years participate in this competition. The maximal amount of points is 40.
The Balkan Junior Olympiad was set up by ten countries of the region. All in all 12 teams consisting of six members each participated in action. As the receiving country Moldova was represented by two teams. Mathematicians from Kazakhstan participated in the Olympiad for the first time as guests.
