Peasants from Dorotcaia Picketed Russia's Embassy in Chisinau and OSCE Mission

Peasants from six localities situated on the left bank of the Nistru within Moldova's jurisdiction protested on Tuesday in front of the headquarters of Russia's Embassy in Chisinau and OSCE Mission in Moldova. Inhabitants of Dorotcaia, Pohrebea, Molovata Noua, Cocieri, Parata and Cosnita villages from Dubasari district have sought from the Russian Federation through the agency of Embassy to use the influence it has on the authorities of the unrecognized republic and oblige them to respect human rights in the region from the left bank of the Nistru. President of a peasants' association from Dorotcaia, Gheorghe Ursu stated that the protesters do not have political aims and do not target any confrontations. "We ask only to be allowed to work the lands that we own, as we invested a lot of money in seeds and now they are spoiling." In his turn, president of Dubasari district, Grigore Policinschi stated for the Agency that "the Russian Federation, as guarantor state, is obliged to involve in the settlement of the conflict from Dorotcaia and other localities that are in the same situation." "We decided to protest, because we think that the Russian authorities know the real situation. We intend to have a meeting with the representatives of the Embassy in order to hand them an addressing signed by the inhabitants of those six villages," mentioned Polcinschi. At the same time, the quoted source said that it seems that international community is also not sufficiently informed about the conflict from Dorotcaia by the OSCE Mission. In the same context, Policinschi accused the Unified Control Commission (UCC) of the fact that it does not fulfill its duties and accused the peacekeeping forces from the left bank of the Nistru of violating their status and of supporting the Transnistrian side in this conflict. Asked by REPORTER.MD, copresident of the UCC Ivan Solonenco stated that "Moldovan side made everything that was possible to settle the conflict from Dorotcaia, but the decisions in UCC are taken in consensus and if one of the copresidents does not agree with a decision, then it is not accepted." At the same time the quoted source underlined that at the last UCC meeting the parties agreed on the necessity to offer to the peasants from Dorotcaia the possibility to work their land but "the Transnistrian authorities cancelled their promises made within UCC meeting and continue blocking this road." In his turn, press officer of the OSCE Mission in Moldova Claus Neukirch stated for the Agency that OSCE teams are present in the conflict zone everyday, "OSCE always reports on the situation from the region to Vienna." "We are the only international organization which is daily present in Dorotcaia and involved in the settlement of the conflict. We understand that peasants from Dorotcaia are disappointed and frustrated by the situation, but we consider that the accusation against OSCE are groundless," added Neukirch. The peasants from those six localities that protested in front of the Russia's Embassy in Chisinau stated that in case the conflict is not settled in the next two weeks, they will picket again the respective headquarters on May 11, this time with farm technology: tractors, combines, seeders and others.//
