Harvest of Cereals Started in South of Country

The harvest of cereals started today in Cahul district, and later in UTA Gagauzia.

The people trained in harvest organization, presented on Tuesday during a meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), the measures for preparation and unfolding in optimal terms of the campaign for harvesting cereals and vegetables of group I.

Head of agroalimentary policies Division, Pintilie Parvan stated that a very good harvest is expected this year, forecasting to gather a global volume of cereals and vegetables of about 1350-1450 Th. tonnes.

If the weather is favorable, the harvest campaign will end within 25 days, specified Parvan, underlining that the economic agents will be ensured with fuels at accessible prices.

This year, cereals and vegetables of group I occupy an area of 481.3 Th. hectares, inclusively winter wheat – 341.2 Th. hectares, winter barley – 48.9, rye –1.2, spring barley –62.6, oat –5.2 and peas – 20.6 Th. hectares.//REPORTER.MD

The level of preparation of the combines and other technical means for harvesting cereals is low in Dubasari, Nisporeni, Floresti and UTA Gagauzia.

Head of mechanization Division from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI), Petru Tataru stated Tuesday at a meeting with economic agents that participate in the harvest of cereals, that all the efforts are focused on the repair and preparation of agricultural equipment. Out of 3856 existing combines there were repaired till now 3600 or 83%.

According to Tataru, the low level of preparation of the combines in the mentioned districts is explained through the difficult economic-financial situation of the economic agents in agriculture, lack of financial means for purchasing agricultural equipment, spare parts and necessary materials for the repair of the agricultural machinery.

“According to estimations, on average about 160 hectares belong to a combine, and the term for harvesting cereals will be set for 16 days, if the weather is favorable,” mentioned Tataru.

He also said that for the harvest campaign the agroindustrial complex has 500 modern combines, organized in 62 specialized mechanized units that belong mostly to private firms and are ready to provide mechanized services according to the contracts with farmers. To harvest the cereals it is planned to utilize 3600 combines, 2400 reapers and about 10 Th. means of transport will be used for transportation of crop.

For harvesting cereals of group I it is necessary 12 Th. tonnes of diesel oil, 4 Th. tonnes of gas and 840 tonnes of technical oil. Supplies of fuels and lubricants, stocked at the petroleum storage depot, comprise 27.3 Th. tonnes of diesel oil, 18.6 Th. tonnes of gas, 1.9 Th. tonnes of technical oils, inclusively at IS “Moldresurse” – 4.5 Th. tonnes of diesel oil.//REPORTER.MD
